Indexa: a company in continuous evolution

Indexa is among the international leading companies in the industrial plant installation sector with over 37 years of history.

by: Indexa Group

Established in 1987, the company is a reliable partner to its customers in revamping, modernization and construction projects of complex industrial installations. It offers engineering, installation, mechanical and electro-instrumental maintenance services, as well as the supply, prefabrication and installation of piping – of various materials, sizes and thicknesses – and metal carpentry, particularly in the paper and converting sectors. Smart organization, flexibility and timeliness of interventions are some of the main factors behind its success. In the last two years, INDEXA has demonstrated its dynamism on the market and its future prospects in terms of sustainability goals. It continues its growth process towards continuous improvement and in fact, in 2024, the company decided to invest in its infrastructure by carrying out a major investment project to extend its workshop and create a training area for young professionals, key players in its target market. At its headquarters in Fontana Liri (approximately one hundred kilometres south of Rome), Indexa has set up a fully equipped workshop of about 4,000 square metres, entirely indoor space. The workshop, together with a large outdoor storage area, is part of Indexa’s 26,000 square meters site of the Indexa property that also includes the central warehouse for “critical” equipment and materials as well as the administrative, commercial, quality and technical departments.

Activities in the INDEXA new workshop.

The new workshop is equipped with a 5-tonne overhead crane and is organised into departments to separate and segregate ongoing activities, thus preventing any contamination. The workshop is used for the prefabrication of piping (stainless steel, iron, plastic), metalwork and mechanical pre-assembly, with associated inspection and testing, before packaging and transport to the site for installation. On the upper floor of the new workshop, an area dedicated to the training of key industry professionals has been built. The training space has a conference room with approximately 45 seats and equipped with advanced Information and Communication Technologies. With this investment, Indexa’s top management aims to achieve both short and medium to long term goals, in order to ensure the sustainable and lasting growth of the Indexa company. In the short term, the expansion of the workshop has enabled the company to respond to the important projects awarded last year, particularly in the fields of mechanical, piping and metal carpentry, as well as to carry out activities relating to the modification and revamping of plant components. The increase in production capacity for prefabrication activities and the availability of space for mechanical pre-assembly give Indexa a competitive advantage on the market: firstly, on the economic pillar, by allowing costs to be controlled through the optimisation of resources and timing, but above all by allowing a higher quality of work to be carried out through the direct control of activities by the offices present in the area, first and foremost the technical department.

In the medium-long term perspective, on the other hand, this investment is the result of management’s careful consideration of the lack of key professional figures in the relevant industrial sector. The focus was mainly on welders, pipefitters, carpenters as well as mechanical and electrical maintenance workers. The company has shown full willingness and cooperation with local authorities, actively participating in social and educational initiatives, such as ITS post-diploma courses in the field of mechatronics and other various initiatives. Indexa is currently carrying out training projects that combine classroom lessons with practical activities in the field. The setting up of training classrooms, in which to carry out the theoretical teachings, allows young people to learn about new technologies that are applied to traditional jobs, making them innovative, such as the welder’s trade, which has acquired a new look over the years, more technological than that of the past. The knowledge of new technologies and regulations related to these professional figures has been accompanied by the practical activity of the workshop, where the young people learn the secrets of the job from the experienced figures with whom they have been placed side by side.
This major investment in the expansion of the headquarters workshop, alongside several important projects acquired in the past year, has created a positive environment in the company, generating new stimulation in the staff and attractiveness in the area, and has contributed to raising the quality level of Indexa’s offer in the market.
